Three houses, three states, three kids, and seven court battles later, we celebrated our 10th anniversary on September 22. Leading up to the big day, I just kept thinking of all the trials we've endured as a couple, and I used that as an excuse to book a swanky hotel on Maui for our trip in November. I deserve it for hanging in there through thick and thin for 10 years (and counting)... right? :)
We were so young and unsuspecting...
The happy couple.
After we got married, we stayed at a hotel in Scottsdale, and then took off for Florida in the morning without anyone at all knowing where we were going. This was right after 9/11, so there was no one on our flight, and we got a primo room at a beach front hotel in Key Largo for just $99.
Someone please tell that lady to put on some major sunblock before going snorkeling so that she won't get a severe sunburn, the effects of which would show up on her back for the next two years!
After a few sun soaked days in Key Largo and Key West, we got ourselves a convertible and drove up the coast and then over to Epcot Center.
Ah, to be so young and carefree again!
What is the deal with this pic? Are we just giddy about being married or something?
When we got home, it was time to open our gifts. Here, I am showing 3 of the 5 crock pots we got. We kept that one in the middle, but somehow it got lost during our latest move - how do you lose a crock pot?
And at the end of the gift pile was an unmarked gift, wrapped in Christmas paper. Who could have given us such a treasure? Hahaha. I hope it wasn't any of you! :)
When we went out for our date on our anniversary, we just parked out in the desert and started talking about all that has lead up to this point... how we met, how we fell in love, how we ended up where we are, and everything in between. As we started listing the fun things we've done, the places we've been, and the memories we've made together, I started to realize that I put way too much emphasis on the hardships when I think back on our marriage. We have been so blessed in so many ways, and we have thousands of pictures to prove that we've had a wonderful life together... looking through some of the really old ones to find pictures for this blog reinforced that in my mind. And then to have my little Kallie show up in the kitchen this morning after I had just seen pictures of William and Kyle at her age - it was sweet to think of all I have. Who needs Maui?
Okay, me. Can't wait.

that was a fun tour back in time. ahem... is that a ghetto blaster? haha. in that last photo. good times and good thinking to think about the good times and put the emphasis on the blessings.
p.s. don't forget the sunscreen :) !!!!!!
also i forgot that you went right after 9-11 you brave souls.
wait... was the ghetto blaster what was in the Christmas wrapping? i hope so because that is rad. i hope you still have that thing.
I was just thinking how weird it is that we always seem to think after this thing here all our troubles will be over and it just never seems to work out that way. :) It is good to look back and see all the good. Sometimes it's easier to see when you go back and look again. Happy Anniversary! I hope you have fun in Hawaii, I am jealous! Wear sunscreen!
