Prescott Revisited

As part of the celebration of our 10th anniversary, we decided to go on a road trip to Prescott like Russ and I had done when we were dating... except this time with our three little tag-a-longs! It was different this time, of course, because we weren't driving the Camaro, and we ate lunch at a pizzeria instead of packing a picnic... but I did remember that we were listening to Gin Blossoms on the way up, so I dug the CD out of my CD collection and popped it in. Memories!

After the pizzeria, we headed for Thumb Butte, where Russ and I had picnicked a decade earlier (or more). This time, we were prepared to actually hike it... something I hadn't done before.

Russ had an apple, and when he was done eating it, he wound up and chucked it as hard as he could out into the forest... which would have been all well and good if there hadn't been a small tree trunk just a few feet away that deflected it right back onto his chest. Haha.

As we were sitting and resting, an older couple walked by and said that they remembered the days when they had young children in tow. After they walked away, I said, "Hey, that's us in another 10 years!" The next couple to walk by was a young couple that looked like they could have been dating. It was kinda like seeing the past present, and future all at once.

Yes, Annalee, I was there, too! There we are at the summit.

Paige is pulling some pose or face in all of the pictures from that day... silly girl (go back to the pics above to see what I mean).

The trek down the mountain was steep, but luckily it was paved (and much more heavily traveled). I had Brandon on my back, and he just loved bouncing down the trail with me... he was laughing it up.

On our way out of town, I thought we should get a treat, so we drove down the main street until we saw a bakery. There was some kind of Corvette rally going on that day, so we had to park a ways down the street. We unloaded and walked down to the bakery only to find out it was actually a "barkery" for dogs! That was a disappointment for the kids. Luckily, we found another bakery a little farther down and bought some stale overpriced cookies... mmm.

We took our cookies to the city park and let the kids play for a while. It had threatened to rain the whole day, but we only got a few drops, so it was just nice and cool and fun to be together.
